How Did you do it Mark?
I worked out an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) relationship with 3 factories to offer my complete, engineered solution under my brand Flood.Tech. Made to my specs / requirements. Vertical posts are 4.0mm. Stainless fittings. Protection up to 55.8 inches high (48" Above floor level with 4"-8" step from Garage or Lanai) with 2.0mm thick aluminum extrusions (33% thicker than 1.5mm and full 2X thicker than 1mm plank systems being offered on Amazon, etc by chinese distributors!
You have probably seen photos on Amazon, etc. with only two or three planks high. This is because the hydrostatic pressure above that on a 1.0mm thick, 35mm wide plank will simply bow them, then leak or, worst case, collapse. Hydrostatic pressure increases exponentially as the water gets deeper. That's why FEMA recommends maximum 48 inches high dry waterproofing above floor level for concrete block walls meeting building code (Reinforced solid concrete column every 4 feet). It's not a coincidence that other flood plank installers will only quote to max of 54 inches, (7) 20mm planks on our style of homes.

Mark's designs over the past twenty years have changed the world, especially for people with disabilities, terminally ill, from trauma & disease, wounded veterans, and children with special needs. Mark's solutions are recommended by the top rehabilitation centers,. used in commercial aviation, US Veterans Administration, mimicked by Microsoft for adaptive gaming, and selected by the Secret Service for use in the White House and US Congress for emergency evacuation. In the photo Mark is demonstrating an adaptive electric fishing reel and wheelchair rod holder sitting in his power wheelchair on his dock in Yacht Club Colony, N Fort Myers Forida.
Trust your neighbor, Mark Felling, to help protect your YCC home against hurricane flooding. I will treat your home as my own.
I applied 25 years of engineering expertise to
design the best possible solution for my own YCC home - backed by FEMA Recommendations, hydraulic, marine, and structural engineering.
Results are highly dependent on the details - project planning before fabrication, then exceptional installation with 90% of the work in surface, base, and anchor preparation.
Mark sustained his spinal cord injury due to a loss of sufficient engine power after takeoff in a small single-engine aircraft. Forcing him to put the aircraft down in the trees in the Minnesota River Valley. The only alternative was the river, which according to pilot training, has a 95% statistical likelihood of death in a fixed-gear airplane. Mark knows all too well the importance of attention to detail, designing redundancy into mission-critical systems, and not depending on insurance or guarantees.
Exceeding all other flood barrier providers, Mark designs high-efficiency DC brushless pumps rated at up to 1100 GPH powered by Lifepo4 batteries into all of our flood barrier solutions to remove any seepage and providing an very important extra layer of protection against minor damage to the flood barrier or minor failures. Mark tested these pumps to empty his 20,000 gallon pool, typical of most YCC homes, after Hurricanes Hailen and Milton on a single battery charge! 4 Pumps, one for each ground-level opening should protect against an entire pool's equivalent of water over an estimated 6 to 8 hour risk with significant redundancy.

30% Thicker Extrusions
up to 55.8" high
Typically placed inside doorways
12 inches high. 4 ft, 12ft, and 20 ft lengths, flexible and foldable
Fill with water from a garden hose before evacuating
Not waterproof in corners, but will significantly slow down any leak, allowing Stage 3 pumps to deal with it.
With 4 to 5 pumps = 3000 gal/hr or 20,000 gallon leak over 6-8 hrs before major damage.
Brushless pump motors last 10x longer than brushed pump motors. They are quite compact and more electrically efficient, requiring fewer amps than a typical brushed bilge pump that moves the same volume of water. 12 volt, 10.8 amp 50 watt or 24 volt, 5.4 amp 50 watt or 48v in the works 1 inch, 25mm discharge outlet Flow Rate: 1110 gal/hr (70 l/min or 4.5m3/h) Lift / Head 3m-5m RPM: 5400r/min Temperature: 0-60 ℃ Impeller: Single stage Material: ABS Easy cleaning of the strainer and impeller if becomes clogged with debris.

FAQs
Mark's Answers to Your Flood Barrier questions and concerns!
Aluminum plank barriers are highly effective, offering robust resistance against water penetration and minimizing the risk of water damage. However no flood barrier or flood protection company will guarantee results against the forces and unpredictability of Mother Nature or impacts from floating debris. If they do call me you should really question their trustworthiness. However good design and exceptional installation with attention to detail can go a very long way.
We can also offer our Heavy-Duty 2-inch (50mm) wide 2.5mm thick and UIltimate 4-inch (100mm) wide 3.0mm thick aluminum plank flood barrier systems providing protection up to 15 feet high, though at a significant increase in cost. These are typically offered or utilized for commercial and government infrastructure projects, and of course are much stronger.
ALL flood barriers will have some seepage. We go the extra mile by embedding stainless steel base plates under each middle support post AND stainless steel channel under the FULL length of the rubber seals of our floodplanks. This greatly reduces seepage compared to having the seals sitting on top of even smooth concrete. The smoother the surface, the better the seal!
Mark sustained his spinal cord injury due to engine failure after takeoff in a small single-engine aircraft forcing him to land it in the trees in the Minnesota River Valley. He knows all too well the importance of designing redundancy into mission-critical systems.

Yes, our aluminum plank flood barriers can be customized to fit the specific dimensions and architectural style of any home. You can paint the vertical posts to match your home's exterior or they can even be made removable. We aim to provide effective flood protection that also complements your home's aesthetic.
We use the latest modern diamond tools and techniques to embed stainless steel base plates and channel in fresh, reinforced concrete under each flood protection barrier, middle support post and 45° angle support, allowing us to blend them directly into esthetics of pool or driveway pavers rather than having to tear up rows of pavers and replace them with poured concrete.
These stainless steel channels, sometimes specified or required by commercial or government-funded flood barriers also greatly reduce seepage that will occur with ALL flood barrier systems. This involves significant extra cost in time and labor and to the best of my knowledge, ONLY Flood.Tech does this. Mark encourages you to ask competitors for quotes but be sure to require stainless channel embedded in the concrete under all flood barrier rubber seals. Our exceptional quality, exceeding all others will be obvious, but I am 100% confident you will also be shocked by their price compared to ours!
Expected life is 20 years with proper maintenance, thanks to durable, corrosion-resistant aluminum. EPDM rubber seals should be inspected annually and replaced every 5 years. Brushless DC pumps are highly reliable lasting more than 30,000 hours. However all electric motors are made of ferrous metal and if stored in high humidity will corrode. So Mark simply recommends storing them in vacuum-sealed food storage bags, and test run them before each hurricane season, then reseal. Lifepo4 batteries have an expected life of 10+ years with 4000-6000 cycles. They are best stored at 40% to 60% charge. It's best to operate them through a charge / discharge cycle at least once every 3-6 months for maximum life..
